Types of conflict situations

  1. Vertical conflicts: Conflicts that arise between different levels of authority, such as between managers and employees.
  2. Horizontal conflicts: Conflicts that arise between individuals or groups at the same level of authority or within the same department or team.
  3. Line-staff conflicts: Conflicts that arise between individuals or groups in the line or production function and those in staff or support functions, such as human resources or finance.
  4. Role conflicts: Conflicts that arise when there are conflicting expectations or demands placed on an individual due to the various roles they play.


By identifying the different types of conflict situations, individuals and organizations can develop appropriate strategies to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.
